PerfectReader Pro - PDF & Document Reader for Adobe Acrobat & Microsoft Office App Reviews

If youre looking for an app to read out loud

Look somewhere else. Better to use the voiceover option in the accessibility screen in iOS. The rest of the app is good.

Bit better than the free version of the program..

They both allow you to use the reader that comes with the program to listen to PDFs as audio (the voice isnt very good, and you cant adjust the audio speed), but its better to use either Apples VoiceOver function in the PDFs audio section (you need to read the page by sections, selecting one at a time) or SpeakSelection (its best to use this if you can, as you can select an entire PDF page to read out once in the PDFs audio section) in terms of the voices sound and options. At least this program has VoiceOver/SpeakSelect for PDFs, which iBooks currently doesnt. The biggest advantage of the paid version is that the free version has trouble saving bookmarks which can be a pain with longer books, the paid version reads text much more smoothly, and you can adjust the text. My biggest qualm is that in the product description theres a quote about it being stable with multitasking - but in the paid version as with the free version it doesnt allow multitasking while its reading text to audio (the primary benefit of this app over other PDF readers Ive used), if it kept reading while multitasking Id give it 5 stars. Update: Version 2 doesnt have the main thing I used this program for - audio. I can still use VoiceOver with this version so its not a complete loss, but I cant use SpeakSelection. Updating caused me to lose my existing bookmarks (luckily there werent many as I was reading short stories and keep track by writing the page numbers Im on in a text document just in case), and the page numbers at least for one document are a bit off from what shows in my other PDF readers (only by one page number so far, but still). Also I dont seem to be able to change the text/page format (there used to be Sepia, which was easier on the eyes in the dark than glaring white). Oh well, I can still use VoiceOver (its just a bit of a nuisance when the chapter Im on starts half or more of a page in - also its a bit hard to see the tiny PDF page text since it doesnt render the fornat of the page to be read, making it harder to follow along visually if need be) - still, I hope they update it with the improved program voice or at least the ability to use SpeakSelection with the text again.

Lost some functionality

This version has a few missing features and a bug or two. You can no longer set the auto shut off to be contrary to the general iPad setttings. For me this means that it shuts down after a couple of minutes on the same page. Also, you can no longer move an item from one sub-folder to another. Instead you have to move it to a main folder, then move again to the sub-folders. I also noticed that there are issues with incorrect titles and covers and I no longer know how to update for new files. Instructions arent clear.

Great app

Use it all the time

Very responsive

Good on my old 3GS.

Loved it until....

This app is really good but the update took away its best features and I am so annoyed by that!! Please return true flow it made reading PDFs on iPhone sooooo easy!!

A Great Reader

This app does everything it promises. Handles my PDFs very easily.

Best reader

This app is the best PDF reader. Got it at $1.99,it works much better than I expected.

Named bookmarks

Nice app. Would be nice to be able to rename bookmarks having multiple in the document.

Great!

Use it every day.

It used to be perfect

I used this all the time to email single pages from PDFs to my colleagues. Since updating to iOS 8 the email function is broken in this app. So disappointed. I really hope they fix this soon.

Good but where is page flip animation

The one feature that distinguished this reader from the rest is page flip functionality. That is now gone.

PerfectReaderPro

Put on the Flip animation and i give five star.

New version is not so good

I like Perfect Reader because I can drag my own files into it, and segment them into seperate folders. They have just IMPROVED the app, and spoiled it! I suspect they wanted to make annotation easier, so they have added a pencil icon at the foot of the page--but this icon covers the last line or two of many documents. Now I read hundreds of documents, and have never annoted any--so this FEATURE (?) is merely an annoyance.

Why ?

Why did you change my favorite app reader and made it worse than all the others ? You cant reframe pages, it crops where it wants to and the wonderful page flip animation is gone... Very very sad : (

Big problem now

I Used to really like perfect reader but now I cannot play videos any longer in knitting lessons that I bought. It was possible until a little while ago. The videos played on "PdfAvPlayer-2902.swf" before but since Perfect Reader Pro was updated they dont play any longer. I wish that could be corrected.

Refund, please.

I have downloaded this for iPad and it deleted all my PDF files. I tried to report a problem but even the link doesnt work - says it cannot be connected to iTunes store when I click it. I would like to have 350 yen refund, please.
